Walney Island is a long, narrow island off the west coast of England, in Cumbria. It lies at the entrance to Barrow-in-Furness and forms a natural barrier between the Irish Sea and the town’s docks. The island is about 11 miles (18 km) long and 1 mile (1.5 km) wide, making it one of the largest islands in England.

Fraying Edges is an ongoing series of Photographs that concentrates on the outer boarders of Walney Island.
